Nuova Sida and the circular economy in metal chip processing

NUOVA SIDA S.r.l., an automatic turning company active for over thirty years in the precision mechanics sector, has launched an innovation project to make the treatment of metal waste generated during machining operations more sustainable and efficient.
The project involves replacing the old system with a high-tech robotic solution for the de-oiling of metal chips, capable of automatically recovering the lubricating coolant oil and completely separating it from solid residues. Thanks to this solution, the oil can be reintroduced directly into the production cycle, while the chips can be enhanced as a secondary raw material ready for recycling.
The new system, equipped with manipulators and programmable controls, enables computerized process management, significantly improving operational quality and reducing environmental impact. The project helps lower resource consumption, accidental losses, and disposal costs, while also delivering benefits in terms of organizational efficiency and business competitiveness.
The project is co-funded under the Veneto Regional Programme ERDF 2021–2027 – Action 2.6.1, “Efficient reuse of resources through the circular economy and support for production processes and efficiency improvements in SMEs.”
